6 PK Gift Set - ALYSSA Vertical PN 2005 - 2010 - 750ml
ALYSSA PINOT NOIR Vertical 6 Bottle Gift Set - Vintages - 2005 - 2010
Our Inaugural 2005 Alyssa: Has a lovely magenta, Indian ruby color. The wine exhibits loads of dark red and black fruits that are continuing to develop. The attack in the mouth is lush, sensuous and lovely, coating the entire palate. The wine is medium bodied showing a very complimentary union of oak, tannins and flavors. The mouth feel is enhanced by the whole clusters placed into the tanks prior to adding the de-stemmed portion of the grapes. The finish is medium long with well integrated tannins and the aromas return in the classic French description of the peacock’s tail. That is to say, that after swallowing the wine, the wine’s flavors return back up into the palate and unfold and spread like the beautiful peacock’s tail. R. Gary Andrus – Winemaker
2006 ALYSSA:The wine has the same dark magenta, Indian Ruby color as the 2005, but, is bigger in the mouth. The nose is shy and reminiscent of the 2005 vintage which is wonderful for consistency of place and powerful floral notes. The wine exhibits dark cherries and a smoky quality that is somewhat more reminiscent of Eola than Amity. The nose evolves with time in the glass. Upon opening, the nose offers more traditional mature Amity fruits with notes of fine French oak, smoke and hints of spice. The wine enters with a silky mouth feel. The attack on the palate is much more substantial than the 2005 vintage. The flavors explode due to the whole cluster fermentation which adds subtle peppery notes and length to the attack. The primary flavor on attack is powerful dark cherry fruit with smoky integrated support from the toasty new French oak barrels. This results in a complete full mouth supporting the classic “earthy” flavors of the soils in which the grapes were grown. R. Gary Andrus– Winemaker
2007 ALYSSA: This ruby and garnet hued wine sparkles in the glass. The nose presents itself with an earthy spiciness layered with stone fruits such as plum, and black cherry and married with hints of cola nut, strawberry and orange peel. The fleshier fruits become more pronounced in the nose as the wine warms and opens up in the glass. The attack on the mouth is fruit forward with bright acidity and silky yet substantial tannins. All of this is nicely balanced with the smoky notes from the French oak. This vintage of the Alyssa dances beautifully with food and opens up nicely in the glass with time. R. Gary Andrus – Winemaker
2008 ALYSSA: As in previous vintages, this ruby and garnet hued wine sparkles in the glass. The nose is subtle, but expressive, with an earthy spiciness indicative of the vineyard. The wine exhibits red currant and fresh strawberry married with floral notes of dried rose petal and hints of cedar. Cherry cola, tobacco and spice open in the glass with the restrained smoky support of fine French oak adding to the lingering finish.
The attack is engaging and substantial, buoyed by the whole cluster fermentation enriching the silky mid-palate. The wine is well balanced, lush and sensual in the mouth. Kelly Kidneigh– Winemaker
2009 ALYSSA: The brilliant deep hue of this wine hints at its violet and black cherry core. The nose is seductively rich with the exquisite layering of earth and spice notes indicative of the estate vineyard coupled with a delicate bouquet of currant and stone fruit. The attack on the pallet is full of plush fruit and bright acidity balanced with minerality, subtle oak and silky tannins culminating in a long and luxurious finish. The wine drinks well now but will benefit from cellaring over the coming decade. Kelly Kidneigh– Winemaker
2010 ALYSSA:The 2010 Alyssa exhibits a dark ruby and garnet hue with undertones of blood orange. The nose is seductively rich with layered aromatics of earth and spice … fraise de bois and Indian spices with hints of smoked paprika and cola. The attack in the mouth explodes with plush stone fruit coupled with bright and balanced acidity enveloped in smooth oak and silky tannins. While approachable now, this wine will continue to evolve in the cellar. Kelly Kidneigh, Winemaker
