3 PK Gift / Logo Box - Nipple Hill Pinot Noir Vertical - 2012, 2013, 2014
2012 Nipple Hill Pinot Noir
The 2012 Nipple Hill is a uniquely elegant representation of the vintage and the vineyard. Crafted in an old world style, standard French oak barrels serve as austere fermentation vessels for this wine. The wine develops slowly and evenly with significantly lower heat and longer, gentler fermentation. This slow, gentle fermentation results in a more complex layering and wonderfully integrated flavors and tannins.
In the glass, this wine exhibits a deep ruby color with garnet and indigo hues. The ethereal nose is a delicate perfume of sweet dried roses, peat moss, lavender and sage all layered with earthy spices of nutmeg, sandalwood and savory. The attack on the pallet is at once savory and sweet with the bright acidity of fresh strawberries and the grounding essences of maple, thyme and oregano. The extended finish is layered with smooth and silky tannins. This wine will reward the patient and easily cellar well for many years, a minimum of 15 to 20.
2013 Nipple Hill Pinot Noir
The lovely carmine color of this wine in the glass draws one in to the alluring nose layered with spices such as cardamom, nutmeg and cinnamon stick against earthy tones of forest loam, sandalwood and cedar. The pallet is also layered with bright fruit such as strawberry and raspberry, notes of cola and a hint of tobacco. This blend is always a study of complexity and delicate layers of nuanced flavors. The mid pallet offers nicely balanced acidity with an extended finish of integrated silky tannins. Like the 2013 vintage, this wine will reward the patient; the wine should cellar well and age nicely, a minimum of 15 to 20.
2014 Nipple Hill Pinot Noir
This wine is beautiful in the glass with its garnet hue and violet undertones, translating to violet notes on the nose. The aromatics provide supporting glimpses of dried roses, tobacco and cola which are combined with subtle vanilla notes from the finely integrated oak. The approach on the palate is supple and savory with beautifully integrated acidity and lush tannins. The finish lingers with leather and spice notes such as nutmeg, allspice and sandalwood. This wine will continue to mellow and age beautifully for years to come.
