2014 Nipple Hill Pinot Noir

Crafted in an old world style, standard French oak barrels serve as austere fermentation vessels for this wine.  The wine develops slowly and evenly with significantly lower heat and longer, gentler fermentation.  This slow, gentle fermentation results in a more complex layering and wonderfully integrated flavors and tannins.

This wine is beautiful in the glass with its garnet hue and violet undertones, translating to violet notes on the nose. The aromatics provide supporting glimpses of dried roses, tobacco and cola which are combined with subtle vanilla notes from the finely integrated oak. The approach on the palate is supple and savory with beautifully integrated acidity and lush tannins. The finish lingers with leather and spice notes such as nutmeg, allspice and sandalwood. This wine will continue to mellow and age beautifully for years to come.
